ABOUT the CONFERENCE CITY A
city originally named after its meadows, Campinas was founded in 1774
and
lies about 100 kilometers of São Paulo.
With a population
of
nearly one million people, Campinas is today an important and growing
educational, industrial and financial center. The city has its own
Symphony Orchestra - considered one of Brazil's
best - theaters, museums, parks, etc.
Restaurants serve regional and international dishes, while pubs or
"barzinhos" are popular meeting places for

and great music.
